Ann Harrold Taylor is a painter whose expressive abstractions explore the interplay of gesture, color, form and memory. Born in Sacramento, California, she earned degrees in art history and French from UC Berkeley and studied painting at the Leo Marchutz School in Aix-en-Provence, France. She received her M.F.A. in 1985 from the University of California, Davis, studying with Wayne Thiebaud, Manuel Neri and other influential faculty. Her paintings combine energetic brushwork, fluid lines and layered compositions, balancing spontaneous expression with formal structure. Taylor has exhibited nationally and internationally, including at the San Diego Museum of Art, Musée Granet in France and galleries in New York and San Francisco. She has taught at Sacramento City College, Sacramento State and the San Francisco Art Institute and maintains a studio in Berkeley, California.
