Cella Costanza (b. 1990) creates paintings, sculptures and installations that examine how narratives shape our understanding of time, place and the natural world. Drawing on histories, myths and systems of knowledge, she constructs environments in which familiar forms become unstable and linear notions of progress are challenged. Her work often juxtaposes organic and fabricated materials, revealing tensions between human ambition and the forces of ecological change. Originally from Taos, New Mexico, Costanza earned a B.F.A. from California College of the Arts before completing her M.F.A. (2025) at UC Davis. Her work was recognized with the LeShelle & Gary May Art Purchase Prize and entered the university's permanent collection in 2025.
