Event Date
Saturdays 1–4PM
Spring into creativity at the museum’s Carol and Gerry Parker Art Studio with an afternoon of art making inspired by works on view in the museum. Drop in each month for a different activity that explores ideas, materials and processes connected to current exhibitions.
April: Mini-Museum
Create a pop-up book that unfolds into a miniature gallery and fill it with tiny versions of your favorite art from the museum. Discover works of art from the collection in Backstory: Digitizing the Museum Collection.
May: Clay Tiles
Get your hands into some clay to create a sculptural ceramic tile. The tiles will be fired at the UC Davis Craft Center and can be picked up in June or used as molds for paper casting during the June Art Spark. While you’re waiting, see how many repeating ceramic objects you can find in Sahar Khoury: Weights & Measures.
June: Paper Relief Sculptures
Transform paper into a relief sculpture through casting. Inspired by cast objects in Sahar Khoury: Weights & Measures, this activity invites you to experiment with molds, materials and colors to create playful impressions.
All ages and skill levels are welcome! Making art is for everyone. All activity supplies provided, and activities are FREE.
