Jessica Segall (b. 1978) is an interdisciplinary artist whose work explores relationships among humans, animals, technology and threatened environments. Segall works across sculpture, video, performance and installation, often creating projects in environmentally vulnerable or politically contested landscapes. Her research-based practice brings art into conversation with ecology, energy production, resource extraction and climate change, frequently involving collaborations with scientists, activists, plants and animals. Segall earned a B.A. from Bard College in 2000 and an M.F.A. from Columbia University in 2010. In fall 2022, she served as a visiting professor with the California Studio at the University of California, Davis, where her teaching explored animals in art and contemporary approaches to ecological and interspecies relationships. Segall received a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2023 and a Smithsonian Artist Research Fellowship in 2025. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Havana Biennial, Bangkok Biennial and Queens Museum, New York.
