Kevin M. Kearney (b. 1953) is a painter, writer, and entrepreneur who earned his M.F.A. from the University of California, Davis, in 1977, following undergraduate studies at the Maryland Institute College of Art. While at UC Davis, Kearney met painter William Theophilus Brown (1919–2012), beginning a close friendship with Brown and his longtime partner, Paul Wonner (1920–2008), both prominent figures in the Bay Area Figurative Movement. Kearney shared studio space with the couple in San Francisco for nearly two decades and remained a close friend for more than 30 years. Both artists depicted Kearney in their work, including Brown’s portrait Kevin Kearney, now in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and Wonner’s Still Life with Flowers and a Note to KMK (1992), owned by Kevin and Sherry Kearney.
