Louis Fox is a painter, educator and art writer who earned his M.F.A. in studio art from the University of California, Davis, in 1970. His paintings and drawings explore the underlying structures of familiar subjects, moving between figuration and abstraction. His work was included in Drawing: A Classical Continuum, a 1986 exhibition in Los Angeles that also included David Hockney and other contemporary artists. In 1989, he exhibited at Koplin Gallery in Los Angeles, where his distinctive approach to drawing and painting received critical attention. Fox also contributed to contemporary art discourse as a writer, including an essay on Pop artist Robert Dowd published in Artweek in 1987.
