Mary Gould Quinn

Mary Gould Quinn is a sculptor who earned her M.F.A. in studio art from the University of California, Davis, in 1977. Her work during the 1970s combined molded fiberglass with delicate textiles, creating sculptures that contrasted rigid structures with the softness and sensuality of fabric. A 1977 exhibition at De Anza College in Cupertino, California, featured her fabric sculptures, which incorporated nylon and fiberglass to explore the expressive possibilities of unconventional materials. Her work also belongs to a broader history of feminist art and experimental sculpture, in which artists challenged traditional sculptural materials and representations of the female body.
