Richard Boehm is an artist whose abstract compositions explore relationships among color, geometry, pattern and spontaneous mark-making. Born in New Jersey, Boehm studied in California, earning an M.F.A. (1975) from the University of California, Davis. His work reflects an interest in the interplay between structured forms and expressive gestures, combining grids, circles, overlapping shapes and densely layered lines. His artistic development has been informed by time spent in London, which he identifies as an important source of inspiration. Through his abstract work, Boehm explores the possibilities of line, color and form as independent elements of visual expression.
