Richard Haley is an interdisciplinary artist, writer and curator whose work examines the relationship between the body, the natural world and the boundaries of perception. He received his M.F.A. in studio art from the University of California, Davis, in 2007. Working across sculpture, photography, video and performance, Haley transforms everyday actions and materials into investigations of physical experience, identity and the unseen. His projects often combine humor, experimentation and seemingly impossible propositions, exploring how images and objects mediate our understanding of reality. His exhibitions include Neither Here Nor There (2008), at Johansson Projects in Oakland, and Mary, Richard, Clouds and Dirt (2011) at Bas Fisher Invitational in Miami. In 2024, he curated Auditions at Verge Center for the Arts in Sacramento, examining relationships between sculpture, video and artistic process. Haley has also taught digital art at Wayne State University and sculpture at Stanford University.
