The UC Davis Manetti Shrem Museum Points to a New Direction in U.S. Museum Design

July 2016: Construction is nearing completion on the Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art, a contemporary art museum set amid the expansive views of California’s Central Valley and surrounding farmlands. At the grand opening on Nov. 13, visitors will experience a new form of museum architecture, one achieved by integrating outdoors and indoors, blurring the usual hierarchical relationship between exhibition and teaching spaces, that furthers the museum’s educational mission. Read more.

Iwan Baan Just Encapsulated Architecture’s Social Media Revolution in a Single Instagram Picture

July 2016: Iwan Baan and SO-IL (Solid Objectives – Idenburg Liu) have taken to the sky to photograph Florian Idenburg’s latest project. This morning, the photographer dished up some quality views of SO – IL’s project from thousands of feet up in the air via his popular Instagram account. Framed at an oblique angle through the helicopter window, the undulating roof of the building on the UC Davis Campus is a spectacular sight to see. Read more.
